ISHPEMING TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WLUC) - The Michigan State Police has confirmed an arson investigation is underway after a fire at an Ishpeming Township home Friday evening.

As TV6 reported Saturday, the house is on Silver Street. The homeowner says he was at home with his girlfriend Friday evening. They were watching a movie when the back door started on fire. He says he found the door covered in gas.

“This neighborhood is really pretty special,” said Seth Tackman, the homeowner. “A lot of people coming and trying to lend any information they can. We’ve gotten a lot of messages from people saying that they have an idea and giving us tips. We’re going to relay all of that to the state police as soon as we can talk to them again.”

On Tuesday, the MSP said no one was hurt and there was minimal damage to the structure. The MSP Fire Marshal is involved with the investigation as well as detectives from the Negaunee Post.

Troopers are asking anyone in the area that may have information or video to contact the Negaunee Post at 906-475-9922.
