Marquette City Police investigating M-553 crash that killed a Marquette woman

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - A Marquette woman was killed and several others remain in the hospital this morning after a traffic crash on M-553 in Marquette Thursday night.
The crash shut down the highway between Division Street and County Road 480 for hours.
Police say a Ford Fusion, driven by a 70-year-old Marquette man, was traveling north on M-553 at 7:29 p.m. when he lost control and crossed the center line. When the driver tried to correct the vehicle, it collided with a Nissan Versa driven by a 65-year-old Marquette man.
Three passengers were in the Ford and one was in the Nissan.
All five people were transported to UPHS-Marquette for treatment.
The passenger of the Nissan, a 63-year-old Marquette woman, was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Snow was falling and the highway was snow-covered at the time of the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
